The healing help of Date Fruit

Date fruit is single seeded fruits of date palm tree, which is botanically known as Phoenix dactylifera, and belong to the family of Palmae plant. The common English names are dried dates, date palm, etc. Date fruits are generally oblong in different sizes, shapes, colors, consistencies  and quality. The dried date fruits includes a high percentage of carbohydrates over 50% sugar by weight,  low in fat 0.3% and protein 3% no cholesterol, but high in various minerals calcium,  soluble dietary fibers, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, copper,cobalt, zinc, elemental fluorine, selenium, boron and sulphur and over six vitamins, including  B2 (riboflavin), Vitamins A, C, B1 (thiamine), nicotinic acid (niacin), etc.

Date fruits also consist in phytochemicals, such as phenolic compounds  glycosides, sterols, cinnamic acids, tannin, saponins, etc.

Date fruits are regarded as an antioxidant, alkaline-forming, anticancer anti-aging, aphrodisiac, antipyretic, cardio tonic, diuretic, demulcent, expectorant, estrogenic, laxative, nervous rejuvenating tonic, purgative, immune booster etc.

Methods Of Preparation

In Nigeria, the dried and soft date fruits are sold out for. However, in the northern part, they are mixed with the strong brewed drink to trim down the stimulating power.

Date fruits may be  cut to pieces and spread on bread, cakes, pudding, cereal, ice cream, etc. Alcoholic beverages, strong liquor and vinegar can be prepared from frothing date syrup or juice. The healing help of Date Fruit syrup can also be made ready and used in of milk blend or the extraction of water-soluble drug substances by boiling, syrup or paste. Date syrup is prepared  by concentrating and filtering the juice and used as a sweetener.

It is proved that the consumption of date fruits regularly promotes health condition and diminishes the risk of heart disease and cancers.
